You put enough paper into your printer, but it still says “out of paper” when you print, copy, fax or scan. In this situation, Chipjet suggests you check the paper tray or the automatic document feeder (ADF) first:
The Paper Tray Does Not Pick Paper
I) Check the Paper
Take out all the paper from the paper tray
Remove crumpled and damaged paper
Take away paper scraps and other foreign matters in the paper tray
Collate the paper and load them in the paper tray
Adjust the paper tray to accommodate the paper size
II) Clean Paper Pickup Roller
Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord
Take out all the paper from the paper tray
Lift the paper tray to open it, so you can find the grey paper pickup roller
Dampen a clean cloth or a swab with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid
Wipe the dust or dirt off the pickup roller
Wait 10 minutes for the roller to dry and then try to print again
Reminder: do not wipe the roller hard. Before cleaning, you need to prepare the following objects:
-Clean cloth or swab
-Distilled water, purified water or bottled water (tap water is not recommended because it may harm the printer)
III) Reset the printer
Open the printer (if not yet) and do not do anything until the printer warms up completely
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power source.
Wait 60 seconds and reconnect the power cord
Wait for the printer to warm up and try to print again
The ADF Has Trouble Feeding Documents
I) Check the Paper
Remove the original document from the ADF
Remove crumpled and damaged paper
Collate the paper and load them in the ADF
Adjust the ADF to accommodate the paper size
II) Clean the Separator Pad and the Paper Pick Roller
Remove the original document from the ADF and lift the ADF cover
Take away all foreign matters inside the ADF
Dampen a clean cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth
Wipe the dust or dirt off the pickup roller
Wait 10 minutes for the roller to dry and then close the ADF cover
Load the original document in the ADF and adjust the ADF to accommodate the paper size
Wait 60 seconds and then reconnect the power cord
Wait for the printer to warm up and try to print again
All right, these are the solutions to the printer’s “out of paper” message. If they can’t solve your problem, please contact the maintenance people and do not fix the printer by yourself.
