How to Replace Cartridges?

With printers used frequently in modern life, it is necessary for us to know how to replace cartridges correctly because the faulty operation will cause printing problems. Today, Chipjet will teach you how to choose cartridges and install them properly.

 

Check Cartridge Models

First, we should choose the suitable cartridge for your printer. Generally, the model will be shown on the cartridge. The following picture is HP 131A series cartridge.

Replace cartridges

Make sure your printer is turned on so that it can recognize the new cartridge. In the following part, we collate the way to replace ink and toner cartridges that posted on HP official website.

 

01 Replace Tricolor Ink Cartridge

  • Prepare the replacement cartridge.

  • Open the ink cartridge access door. Press down lightly on the cartridge you need to replace to release it, and then pull it out of its slot.

  • Remove the new cartridge from its packaging, and remove the plastic protective tape from the cartridge.

  • Slide the new cartridge at a slight upward angle into the slot.

  • Push the cartridge towards the rear until it snaps into place.

Note:

  • Ensure that you install the cartridge in the correct slot. Tricolor on the left, and Black on the right.

  • Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles. Touching these may result in clogs, ink failure and bad electrical connections.

02 Replace Single Color Ink Cartridge

  • Prepare the replacement cartridge.

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and wait until the cartridge is idle and silent.

  • On the old cartridge, push in on the tab to release it, and then remove it from the slot.

  • Remove the new cartridge from its packaging and pull the orange tab straight back.

  • Hole the cartridge by the sides, and then twist the cap counter-clockwise to remove it.

  • Have the cartridge contacts face toward the printer and match the color.

  • Slide the new ink cartridge into its slot, and then push it down until it clicks into place.

Note:

Remove the orange pull-tab and plastic wrap completely before you twist the orange cap. Otherwise, ink might leak.

Twist the cap slightly so as not to damage the cartridge.

03 Replace Toner Cartridge

  • Prepare the replacement cartridge.

  • Open the cartridge door. Hold the middle handle of the toner cartridge and pull it along the tracks to remove it.

  • Remove the new toner cartridge from the bag. Remove the orange cover from the cartridge and then pull the tab straight out to remove the sealing tape.

  • Hold the middle handle of the new cartridge, align it with the tracks inside the printer, and slide it into the bottom until it clicks into place

  • Close the front door.

Note:

Do not touch the imaging drum. Fingerprints may cause print-quality problems.

If the new cartridge cannot be recognized by the printer, we suggest you replace all the cartridges in order to confirm whether the printer goes wrong.
